Reasons To Love Your Kinky Hair

Natural hair is beautiful, precious, and God’s gift to you. People are finally coming
around and recognizing its beauty. However, for some strange reason, some people
think that Type 4 hair should be left out. For whatever reason, they feel the need to
attack kinky hair
and make people who have it feel less beautiful.

Unfortunately, there are always going to be people with foul spirits who want to put
others down, but you don’t have to listen to them. There are TONS of beautiful
characteristics about Type 4 hair
in general, and about your specific hair. I want all of
you to love your kinky natural hair, so I want to send you all the positive vibes in the
world! I’m going to show you how the “bad things” about kinky hair are blessings that
you can use towards your advantage.

Type 4 Hair Is So Frizzy

Most of us want our natural hair to be super defined so that we can show off our hair in
its full glory. However, this thing called frizz seems to always get in the way. Everybody
gets frizz, but it looks as though kinky hair frizzes up the most to the point where you
can’t see the curl pattern.

While most people see that as a negative, it’s great. Frizz=volume, so having frizz in the
right places can give you the volume boost that everyone wants. And since kinky hair has the most frizz, that also means we have the most volume. We’ve all seen people with mega-puffs that almost touch the ceiling or people with full and thick heads of hair, but it’s only ear length. Both of these people can have insane amounts of volume relative to their length because they have frizz in common. Nothing wrong with a defined style, but let’s finally give frizz the applause it deserves for coming through with the volume.

Frizz makes afros look so good. The world loves a good afro, and guess which natural
hair type does it the best? I’m not going to say names, but it sounds just like Type 4
hair. Especially if you have 4c hair, nobody can tell you anything when it comes to any afro styles. Kinky natural hair has the best puff, fro-hawk, and afro. Any hairstyle where you need to go big or go home is perfect for us.

Type 4 Hair Shrinks The Most

Yes, this is true, but the flip side is that kinky hair is the most elastic. Type 4 hair has the shape of a spring, and just like a spring can get super compressed, it can stretch out to incredible lengths! Going back to the previous examples of the people with the mega-puffs, if they let their hair shrink up, you would not think that it would be that long. Someone can have waist-length hair, but it will shrink to their shoulders. You might think the shrinkage is terrible, but imagine the look on someone’s face when you pull a few strands, and they see the yards that you have compared to their inches.

Looser curls don’t shrink up as much, so you can guess that they’re within 1-4 inches of their true length at all times. You could be hiding a whole foot-long worth of hair (some people even more)! Type 4 hair shrinkage gives people the world’s greatest underdog story. Everybody underestimates us and assumes that we can’t pull off certain styles. Don’t listen to them, prove them wrong and embrace your shrinkage because who doesn’t want to be the underdog that wins?

Type 4 Hair Is Unmanageable

First of all, everyone says that about their hair. Everyone with natural hair felt that way before they learned how to take care of it. From Type 2- Type 4 hair, we all felt that way until someone taught us how to manage it.

Second, I want to point something out. A lot of people claim to be “lazy naturals,” but also state that they can’t manage their kinky hair. What exactly are you trying to do that requires you to do all this managing? If your goal is to be lazy, you shouldn’t do too many styles that take a lot of effort. You’re doing the most and the least at the same time, no wonder you’re having problems.

Let it go. If your head of natural hair prefers to be left alone then leave it be! Stop doing styles that require a lot of manipulation and leave it alone. If you can’t manage a wash-and-go, do a braid-out. If braids are too much, do a simple twist. Stop trying to have elaborate and time-consuming hairstyles and stick to something simple. Save yourself the time, money, and effort by keeping your regimen simple. Be the lazy kinky-haired natural that you claim to be, and you’ll find that your hair is more manageable than you thought.

Type 4 Hair Is So Stiff

That is true, but let me tell you something. I live in Michigan, and it’s always windy. I’m not talking about a pure breeze; I mean wind so strong that your umbrella flips up. Everybody’s hair is flying every which-a-way, and they get to their destination looking crazy.

On the other hand, my kinky hair looks just fine. All I have to do is fix that one piece that never acts right (y’ all know how it is), and I’m done. Talk about my stiff natural hair if you want to, the only Gone With Wind I know is the movie.

Type 4 Hair Can Be Anything

Raise your hand if you’ve ever seen someone with kinky hair get curls, waves, or straight styles on their natural hair. Now comment below if you’ve ever seen someone with a curly, wavy, or straight pattern get kinky hair. If I want curls, waves, or straight hair, then I’ll grab a flat iron or some Waveformers. If they’re going to have kinky hair, then they need to do some sorcery. I don’t know about you, but I enjoy the fact that I can’t be copied.

I hope this gave you a few reasons why you should love your kinky natural hair. The goal of this article was to help you see your Type 4 beauty. Your hair is just as gorgeous as anyone else’s, and I want you to keep reading this article and looking in the mirror until you can see that for yourself. Share this article with anyone who may need a confidence boost because we need more positivity in a world that’s always trying to put people down.
